The State of Hawaiʻi has launched Engage.Hawaii.gov, a new public website giving residents a voice in shaping Hawaiʻi’s future, including the future of state lands currently leased by the U.S. Army. The leases, at Pōhakuloa Training Area on Hawaiʻi Island and the Kahuku Training Area, Kawailoa-Poamoho, and Makua Military Reservation on Oʻahu, are set to expire in 2029.

The Army land lease section of Engage.Hawaii.gov includes:

  • An overview of the expiring lease lands and their current uses
  • A public comment form to submit manaʻo (feedback, questions, concerns)
  • A living timeline of milestones and documents
  • A Q&A section with frequently asked questions
  • Ongoing updates as the process evolves
